Majorly Cool is a small reference built around 180 film and music figures from the twentieth century. Give it a date and it shows who was born, who died and who made a first work on that day. Give it two to four names and it draws their careers as ribbons on one shared axis.

Where the facts come from

Each profile lists the sources its dates come from, linked in context at the foot of the page. The summaries are written fresh for this site. Where sources disagree, the profile says so and the dates are marked approximate. Peak years are a judgement drawn from the careers themselves and are marked as estimated when they are.

Privacy

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no third-party scripts, fonts or images. The dates you type stay in your browser: they are used to filter data the page has already downloaded, and are kept only in the address after the # so that a link can reopen your choice. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere or stored on a server.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which, like any host, counts requests and keeps standard server logs. The site itself does not read them.
