Brian Jones
Music: guitarist, bandleader, composer, producer, United Kingdom
Brian Jones was an English musician and the original founder and early leader of The Rolling Stones. A master of blues slide guitar, Jones rapidly broadened the band's musical palette during the mid-1960s by introducing sitar, marimba, recorder, and Mellotron on classic records such as Paint It Black and Under My Thumb. Increasingly estranged from the group amid worsening health and substance struggles, Jones parted ways with the Stones in June 1969. Less than a month later, he died in the swimming pool at his home, Cotchford Farm in Sussex, at the age of twenty-seven.
