Eddie Cochran

Music: singer, guitarist, songwriter, United States

Eddie Cochran was an American rock and roll singer, songwriter, and innovative guitarist whose driving rhythms left a profound mark on popular music. Breakthrough appearances on film and record in the late 1950s led to enduring youth anthems such as Summertime Blues, C'mon Everybody, and Somethin' Else. A gifted musician who experimented early with overdubbing techniques, Cochran toured Britain to immense acclaim in 1960 alongside Gene Vincent. The tour concluded in tragedy when Cochran suffered fatal injuries in a road accident in Wiltshire, passing away in Bath in April 1960 at the age of twenty-one.
