Bon Scott
Music: singer, songwriter, United Kingdom
Bon Scott was a Scottish-born Australian singer and songwriter who served as the charismatic frontman for hard rock giants AC/DC. Born in Forfar in 1946, he emigrated to Australia as a child and performed in various groups before replacing Dave Evans in AC/DC in 1974. Scott's gravelly vocal delivery, wicked wit, and streetwise charm powered seminal hard rock anthems like Highway to Hell and Whole Lotta Rosie, propelling the band to global renown in the late 1970s. His vibrant career ended abruptly in February 1980 when he died from acute alcohol intoxication in East Dulwich, London, just as the band stood on the brink of superstardom.
