Phil Lynott
Music: singer, songwriter, bandleader, United Kingdom
Phil Lynott was an Irish rock singer, bassist, and songwriter who served as the charismatic frontman and primary creative engine of Thin Lizzy. Born in Staffordshire and raised in Dublin, Lynott combined poetic lyricism with powerful hard-rock arrangements and twin-guitar harmonies. Under his leadership, Thin Lizzy produced seminal releases including Jailbreak and the acclaimed concert record Live and Dangerous, yielding enduring rock staples like The Boys Are Back in Town. Alongside his work with the band, he issued solo material and collaborated extensively across the rock scene. After years of sustained creativity, his health failed, and he died in Salisbury in 1986 at thirty-six.
