Keith Moon
Music: drummer, actor, songwriter, United Kingdom
Keith Moon was an English drummer best known as the combustible engine behind rock band The Who. Born in London in 1946, he joined the group in 1964, transforming their sound with his manic, orchestral style that favoured relentless fills over conventional timekeeping. Moon played on a string of acclaimed rock landmarks including Tommy and Who's Next, while indulging an appetite for chaotic offstage antics. His unrestrained energy helped redefine the role of the rock drummer throughout the late 1960s and 1970s. Moon died in Mayfair, London, in September 1978 from an overdose of prescription medication, shortly after the release of the album Who Are You.
