Linda McCartney
Photographer: photographer, singer, songwriter, pianist, United States
Linda McCartney was an American photographer, musician, and animal rights campaigner who rose to prominence shooting rock artists in the 1960s. As the house photographer at the Fillmore East, she photographed legends including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Aretha Franklin, becoming the first female photographer to shoot a Rolling Stone cover. Following her marriage to Paul McCartney in 1969, she contributed backing vocals and keyboards to his solo projects and co-founded the successful pop group Wings. Across the 1970s, the band topped charts with albums such as Band on the Run. Later in life, she championed vegetarianism before passing away in Tucson, Arizona, in 1998.
