Bruce Lee
Film: actor, director, producer, United States
Bruce Lee was an internationally celebrated martial artist, philosopher, and film star who fundamentally changed the portrayal of Asian figures in global cinema. Raised in Hong Kong, he worked as a child actor before returning to his native United States, where he founded Jeet Kune Do and secured the role of Kato in the television series The Green Hornet. Returning to Hong Kong, he achieved monumental box-office triumphs with The Big Boss and Fist of Fury, before directing himself in Way of the Dragon. His seminal Hollywood co-production, Enter the Dragon, became a worldwide cultural phenomenon. Lee died suddenly from cerebral oedema in Kowloon Tong in July 1973, just days before the film's premiere.
